When I was a little girl, I distinctly remember my parents having friends over and playing with my dad's reel-to-reel. Recording crowd sing-a-long versions of Yellow Submarine and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, these were lively groups. Our old hand-me-down organ from Grandma and Grandpa, microphones, bass, guitars, bongos, all would come to the party.
Maybe that is why I feel compelled to have music gatherings for my kids. I loved these times. I saw freedom of expression in my parents' faces. I heard love of life in the music they made. Creativity danced around the room.
